Swedish Blue Ducks
The Swedish Blue Ducks has its origin in Sweden and they are now a rare breed of ducks. Often they are cross-breeded to produce better quality of breeds. Body color is blue and so it is easy to distinguish this breed from other varieties of ducks. The Swedish Blue Ducks are considered to be as good foragers. Whether present on land or in water they can easily obtain their food consisting of the insects and mollusks. The drakes of this breed weigh generally about 7-8 pounds while the ducks weigh between 6-7 pounds. Although their meat is consumed in some places but still they are reared mainly for their eggs. Often considered as a good layer, it generally lay about 100-150 eggs per year. The ducklings take a much small amount of time to get matured but during their duckling stage they hugely depend on their mothers for their nutrition. They are reared in groups.
