Saxony Ducks

The Saxony Ducks owe their origin in Germany and are much popular for its eggs and meat which are consumed as food. These ducks have large and flattened orange bill. The drakes and ducks of this breed can be easily distinguished. The drakes are brown or deep grey headed with a white collar surrounding the entire neck region. The breast region of the drakes is chocolate brown or reddish and the rest of the body is white with grey feathers. It weighs about 8 pounds. The ducks on the other hand generally weigh around 6-7 pounds. The ducks are creamy brown or white in body color with yellowish white plumage. Both the drakes and ducks have orange legs. The ducklings of this breed take about 6-8 weeks to develop into a mature one. During this time they rely heavily on their mother for growing up. The males are seldom found to take care of the ducklings.
