Mallard Ducks

Mallards are the most popular form of duck breeds that are found in many countries. Mallards are of different colors and varieties but it is easy to distinguish the drakes because these are green-headed and their body is white or grey. The collars are white. The ducks are generally white with brown spots and feathers all over the body. Mallard ducks have long bill which is yellow or greenish in color. The color of the feet is orange or light brown. They lay about 100-150 eggs per year and generally in clusters at a time. The incubation period for the hatching of the eggs is about 28 days. The color of the eggs is green. The ducklings generally become mature within a very short period of time. In comparison with other variety of duck breeds the Mallards are considered more strong and dominant. They are reared both for eggs and also for meat and are good for keeping in natural conditions of poultries.
