Kromsnaveleend Duck

Kromsnaveleend Duck or often called as Hook Bill ducks have their origin long back in the 16th-17th century in Holland. They are characterized by their curved bill. Mainly common in two colors like the black and white; there are others which have dusky or grayish body feathers. Some other variants of this breed are dark or green headed. The legs are either orange in color or brown. Many a times a white bib is found near the esophagus region of the black variety of Kromsnaveleend Duck. These ducks are greatly used for show purpose because of their distinctive appearance. The drakes are about 6.5 pounds in weight and the ducks weigh about 5-5.5 pounds. It generally lay large sized eggs in specific seasons of the year. Number of eggs hatching varies from 100-120 per year. The eggs are blue in color and are also used for consumption. They generally like to move in teams when on land or in water.
