Hook Bill Ducks

The Hook Bill Ducks owe their origin in the Netherlands. These ducks are mainly found in two color variants namely white and black. The black varieties have a white patch near the throat region. The bill is large and curved. Due to their curved nature they have thus got the name. Color of the bill is faded pink or yellowish white. The males weigh about 6 pounds while the females are of 4-5 pounds in weight. They are mainly found in pairs or in groups and prefer to swim. That is why they should be reared in open farmlands with nearby ponds. Seldom are they found to remain in one place for longer. The Hook Bill Ducks lay about 100-110 eggs or more every year and the color of the eggs are bluish white. They show striking similarity to the Kromsnaveleend breeds and so often they are considered as same. The Hook Bill Ducks are reared mainly for eggs and also for show purpose.
